Presentagious – Community tools that empower people to share, connect and interact.

My session is about business tools within the context of social media particularly web 2.0. I will be discussing the demands that web 2.0 has placed on traditional business tools – with the increased need for collaboration, remote working, co-working, and agile development.

The discussion includes categories of business tools, from productivity, to community, to collaboration. Tools that once dominated these categories pre-web 2.0 as well as tools that are in play today? This workshop will also discuss some of the features that are critical in defining a USEFUL business tool. Features like cloud computing, micro blogging, conversations, content portability, and data portability.

My goal is for the audience to walk away from this session with a greater idea of business tools for the web, and an idea of what it takes to be outstanding in business today.

Empressr crosses the pond

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

We (myself and Mike Davis, @globalcitizen) started a European tour last week. We started out joining Werner Vogles (the awesome dude that runs tech at the very cool company Amazon), for lunch and then attended his birthday party that evening. It is amazing to spend time and interesting conversations about technology and life with the CTO of a major global company, what an experience. I posted some pictures on my flickr.

Next Stop was Ibiza Spain to meet with the guy that puts on one of the largest music conferences in Europe, more to come on this.

Mike had to go back to the states on Tuesday, Empressr is sponsoring SM4SC this Friday October 10, at the Harvard Club in Boston, he will be speaking there, it’s a great cause and I encourage you to attend. Me, I headed to London. Today October 8 I’m at fowa (future of web apps), Empressr will have a stand showing off our newest version of Empressr and I will be presenting at one of the university sessions on Thursday 15:45-16:50 Business and Tools track.

On the road with Empressr in San Francisco

Friday, September 12th, 2008

globalcitizen here….

The last couple days were outstanding! I had the opportunity to spend some time with some of my favorite people talking about one of my favorite products! EMPRESSR!

The trip started at the office 2.0 conference at the St. Regis in San Francisco. Empressr was a sponsor of this event, and it was just amazing! Everything from the other companies, to the free-form unconference on Day 1, and topped with a cameo appearance from May’s little baby. What was most touching for me, was how interested Bryan was in the other companies that were there as well. Sliderocket, some might qualify it as Empressr’s competition, was only a few booths down. By the end of the 3-day conference, the co-founder of Sliderocket gave a demo to Bryan. There was an remarkable sense of unity and love that was definitely felt.

We spent some time with the people at mindtouch, and their impressive wiki product (that will soon support Empressr as a media type) hint hint ;) — just joking. But in a nutshell, hung out with some really amazing folks who were genuinely interested in getting to know more about empressr and Bryan.

Why were they so excited to know about Empressr?? well, firstly because we are AWESOME! duh!.. but how about the SUPER FANTASTIC GLORIOUS (keep inserting adjectives until your brain explodes) version 4.0 that we just released! Sooo many features to list (plus it would make for a very boring post) - but I’ll tell you about my favorite one… TWITTER INTEGRATION! that’s right, your favorite social network is now a part of your favorite online presentation tool… you can create, share, and now HAVE A DIALOGUE ABOUT your presentation!…

Definitely check it out!..

Then we hung out over the weekend in San Francisco, did the tourist thing, check out Bryan’s empressr about our tour of the mission and the murals that can be found there. We met some interesting folks at Otis on Maiden Lane. They were nice enough to spend their Saturday afternoon with us, and show us around the Mission, complete with a coffee from Phil’z.

We were nice and rested for TechCrunch 50. AMAZING companies like IndieGoGo, Closet Couture, and my personal favorite CauseCast… were all there… and they were so nice! Real people behind some really cool ideas… and not to mention the awesome parties, thank you to myspace, norton, and seesmic who were really gracious to host the after-conference parties to help bring out the inner-geek in all of us.

Bryan and I met some really great people in the after-parties as well, including the infamous M.C. Hammer (and for those of you who are wondering, he is DEFINITELY too legit)

We are back in NYC, back at home base in lovely rainy NYC, resting, recouping, and rehashing all the feedback… working away on the next version, and getting ready to come out to Las Vegas! Empressr is going to be sponsoring the TechSet party at the Mirage… so, stop by, introduce yourself, or just give us the ol’ new york “how YOU doin’” …

For more up-to-the-minute happenings follow Bryan and I, the globalcitizen, on twitter….
